Nomenclature and the desire to assign all things labels and categories is a double-edged sword. While the sense of community and belonging derived from knowing one is a member of or identifies with X group or cause is a delightful and beneficial feeling, it also creates cliques and herd mentality. I have found myself standing in the grey area of everywhere, resembling the traits of a plethora of communities and groups yet belonging to or being accepted by none. I stand here the man that is not a man, a woman that is not a woman, a Pagan that stands alone in faith, a stranger among friends, and a useless Jack of All Trades. I find that I am often repelled from communities with which I desire association and pushed into others of which I want no part. I am of a singular mind with universal concern, a loyal patriot with no country. Still, I do not look on from this world or this life; I have not given up.
